	LESS MAGIC NUMBERS (and LESS GRAMMAR)
	... removed a fair number of numeric constants from alpha support
	    files, replacing them with their symbolic equivalents from
	    generic/early-vm.lisp.  probably haven't rooted out all of
	    the offenders, but it's a start.
